One of the finest views in central Oregon, is that of Mt. Jefferson from the head of the Metolius River. The 10,497 feet (3,199 m) stratovolcano, is one of several peaks which rise from the Cascades in central Oregon. Photo taken Aug. 10, 2009 at the head of the Metolius River.

This is the spot where the Metolius River emerges from the ground, out of nowhere. It pours right out of the ground at a consistent 48 degrees, at a rate of 50,000 gallons a minute.
